The Twins Search For Answers
Rex and Cassie had an eye opening conversation about knowing who it is they can truly trust. Rex also decided to do research so he could learn about how to help Shawn out of his troubles. Cassie decided to help her brother clear Shawn. They also talked about how Marlena cut them out of her life. They then began to wonder if they could trust Tony DiMera. Rex and Cassie decide to search the DiMera mansion for clues. While searching the house, they stumble upon the Professor in one of the hidden rooms. He lies to the twins as to his reason for being in the Mansion. They ask him about Tonys secret room but he refuses to give them a straight answer. He tells them to figure it out for themselves. After trying to hack into Tonys computer, Rex gives up after failing to break through.
Rex and Cassie later show up at the court house before Shawns hearing where Cassie is confronted by Belle. Belle lays into Cassie about manipulating Shawn and lying to her. Cassie gives it back to her and lets her know she is willing to do anything for Shawn. Belle tells Cassie that the entire thing is her fault.
Rex pulls Cassie aside and tells her that they cannot trust anyone and that she will need to keep her mouth closed before Roman over hears her and throws her in jail.
During the hearing, Shawn pleads guilty which brings an outburst from Belle, who is later removed from the court room. After the Judge asks Shawn to give his plea, he changes his plea to not guilty. Rex and Cassie race outside the court room to tell Belle. Rex assures Belle that it was because of her plea to Shawn that he changed his plea. What will happen next? Will Shawn be convicted of murder? If that is the case will Belle fall into the arms of Rex? Only time will tell. Stay Tuned.

Rex and Mimis attempt to reconcile Shawn and Belle continued. Mimi showed up at Shawns with a Valentine day gift for him, a diary of their many days together. Rex showed up at Belles with Shawns gift, a Snowman.
As Belle boarded the plane, bound for Paris, a surprise guest showed up. Rex arrived to make sure Belle was not going to be alone on her trip to Paris. He got a ticket because of a last minute cancellation. Belle was furious at first but soon gave in and began a long conversation with Rex. They talked about her leaving, Shawn, and he wanted to ensure her that he knew she loved Shawn and that he was not trying to move in on her. They seem to bond very well at the time. Belle soon realized that it was a mistake to go to Paris and leave things the way they were between her and Shawn. Rex asked her what she wanted to do, and she replied, go back to Salem.
They returned back to Salem and went directly to the DiMera house where they encountered Cassie. She was not thrilled when she heard the news about Belle returning to Salem and staying to see Shawn. Rex hugged Belle and wished her good luck as she went off to find Shawn. Rex and Cassie got into a heated discussion where Cassie soon blurted out that Shawn killed Colin and that she witnessed the whole thing. Rex tried to assure his sister that she needed to go to the police and confess. She said no. The two then rushed off to the police station where they encountered Shawn just as he was about to confess to Roman and Bo that he killed Colin. Before he could confess, he started screaming acting very wild and passed out in Bos arms.
Rex and Cassie rush to the hospital to see how Shawn is doing. They encounter Bo and Roman. Roman begins to question Cassie about Shawn and asked what was she talking about when she told Shawn not to say anything. Rex jumped in and defended his sister and told Roman to back off. He later told Cassie in front of Roman that families have to protect each other.

What does the future holds for Rex?
Rex got to spend some quality time with Tony while he was in the hospital recovering. Tony told Rex that he was very independent and Rex wanted to know what that meant because everyone called him that. Tony assured him that it was a good thing and that he was going to be a good father to he and Cassie.
Later in the week, Rex and Belle returned to her room to find Shawn with Mimi. Rex and Mimi decided to leave the two alone and set out to come up with a way to get Shawn and Belle back together. They tricked them into meeting at Lookout Point where things got out of hand with Belle and Shawn. Belle returned to her room and told Rex what had happened to her and what Shawn did. You get to see a very over-protective Rex emerge. If youre wandering who he will be paired with in the future, it appears that Belle and Mimi are the leading candidates for that role.
